Description
I recently had the privilege to travel to an isolated inlet on British Columbia's coast, for an unforgettable boat trip to see grizzlies feeding on salmon. Our informative (and entertaining!) guides led us to this mature male first. He had been through the wars, as one of his mangled ears shows, but he was still impressive, nonetheless. He expertly chased down several salmon, ignoring or releasing the males in favour of the roe-filled females. After consuming the skin, the roe and, possibly, the brain, the rest of the salmon was discarded. September 2024.
